Borobudur, Sign In Guinness World Records






Guinness World Records in London, England, is officially listed as an archaeological site of Borobudur Buddhist temple in the world.

"Borobudur was officially recognized with a number of claims 396-198 in the Guinness World Records in London, England, as the archaeological sites of the largest Buddhist temple in the world," said Director of Tourism Park Temple (TWC) Borobudur Prambanan Ratu Boko (Limited), Purnomo Siswoprasetjo, in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 4, 2012.



 
The recording was done on June 27, 2012 and has managed to get a claim number of Borobudur temple which became UNESCO world heritage list number 592 (1991) as an archaeological site in the world's largest Buddhist temple.

Purnomo said the official certificate from Guinness World Records when it was sent from headquarters in London to the headquarters of PT TWC Borobudur Prambanan Ratu Boko (Persero) in Yogyakarta.

"From now on the Borobudur Temple was an official Guinness World Records title holders," he said.

It hoped, with the inclusion in the list Guinness Borobudur, the temple was built between 750-842 BC that will gain prominence in the world.

Purnomo said the agency registration process to take about three months, including verification by Guinness.

Current level of tourist visits to Borobudur temple continues to increase. Throughout 2011, the number of tourists to the temple's spacious 60 000 m3 to 250 thousand people, an increase of 15 percent compared to 2010.
